The Holy Spirit powerfully transforms even the most broken lives.
This is the story of Bagus and Zahra, a married couple who are former Muslims from the unreached people group, the Sasak, in Indonesia. By God’s grace, they have now received Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
Before Bagus came to Christ, he struggled deeply with anger and often expressed it through physical violence toward his wife, Zahra. As she shared her story, it was painful for her to recall those years—she described her life as if she were living in constant suffering and despair.
But then, something powerful happened. The Holy Spirit encountered Bagus, and he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. From that moment forward, a true transformation began. Bagus stopped hurting his wife and never again laid a hand on her.
Zahra was deeply moved and amazed as she witnessed this change in her husband’s life. Over time, she too came to faith in Jesus Christ and was eventually baptized.
The work of the Holy Spirit did not stop there. Today, Bagus and Zahra are actively serving the Lord and reaching out to the Sasak people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. They have already begun to see small but meaningful fruit in their ministry, as some among the Sasak community have come to faith through their witness.
At this time, Bagus and Zahra are planting a house church and faithfully discipling new believers.
